New Year update from Tilly-Wood Street Design team

Happy New Year from everyone at the Street Design team! We hope you have enjoyed the break. We’ve been out and about planning our upcoming events and activities for the project. See below for an update and what’s coming up…

What have we been up to?

Since our last public session in November we’ve continued engaging with the local community to discuss the progress so far and the themes that are emerging. Last week we were kindly invited to Tillydrone Network to share updates on our project and also learn what’s happening in the local area. We plan to meet and work with other groups next month, including Woodside Community Council and Aberdeen Countryside Rangers.

If you missed our last public event please follow the link to the display boards from the event here - Session 2 Display Boards . Below are a few photos from the event:

Next Public Session 3: Showcasing Design Proposals

Following the engagement we’ve received so far we’re developing draft design proposals which will be ready to showcase by March for your feedback. These designs aim to meet the following three objectives:

  • To make it easier for walking, cycling and wheeling
  • To improve public space with more greenery, artwork and places to sit and play and
  • To create a stronger community and business identity
  • These designs will be in draft and require your comments and suggestions to ensure they meet the needs and aspirations of the local community. We will soon be launching a website for you to comment on the designs and will also be holding events and talks in the local area during March/April for you to find out more.

    Tilly-Wood Litter Pickup

A frequent theme from your comments and feedback so far was the concern of litter on the street and how it affects walking and cycling in the area. We’re teaming up with local groups in the area to run an anti-littering campaign. In the next few months we’ll be running events with local schools and involve businesses to pledge for a tidier Tilly-Wood. If you’ve done something similar, would like to be involved or have any questions please email Kasia, kasia.koziel@sustrans.org.uk .

Keep checking this blog for further details and information. In the meantime please email Emily if you have any questions, emily.gait@sustrans.org.uk
